Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides Powder Review

I recently purchased Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides Powder and really enjoyed my experience with it. I thought that a short review of my experience with it might be helpful to others that are interested in purchasing it.

The company claims that it “helps to improve the health of your hair, skin, nails, joints and ligaments, and tendons. I have tried collagen powder before but did not have a full container so I couldn’t write a review of my experience. I can’t remember the brand I used in the past but Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides Powder had good reviews so I thought I would give it a try.

The container has a scooper inside of it to measure out the servings. It is recommended to use 1-2 scoops and mix it in a cold or hot beverage. I tested it out with soda – do not recommend. It turned into a foamy mess. My next try was coffee and that was a great experience. I initially started with 2 scoops but ended up doing just one scoop every morning.

When they say it is unflavored they truly mean that. I tried some in some water and there was barely any taste to recognize so I believe you can mix it in most beverages. Here is my experience with Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides Powder.

Skin: My main reason for purchasing the powder was to improve my skin as it has been acting up lately – random redness and dry patches as well as acne here and there. I was pleasantly surprised by the results. My skin started evening out, a lot of the redness went away and my skin started feeling smoother and supple.

Hair: I did notice that the new growth of my hair felt a bit softer than usual so that was a cool discovery.

Nails: Now this was an added bonus to using Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides Powder. My nails grew long and were stronger and harder than they have been for awhile. They are so long that it is almost difficult to type right now – I’m not used to having long nails as it has been awhile.

Joints, ligaments, and tendons: Now this I don’t really have much to report about as I didn’t feel any significant improvement in my joints. I have some sports injuries that cause me discomfort but I didn’t feel any true changes in that.

Overall I was pleased with Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides Powder as it helped me in more ways than one. I would definitely purchase this again.

Do you use collagen powder? If so, what brand and how did you like it? Let us know in the comments.

FabFitFun Beauty Box Subscription Review

As I mentioned in a previous post I have started ordering a couple of subscription boxes and FabFitFun was one of them. I have seen unboxing videos as well as read reviews on them and it seemed like a box that was really worth it to order. My sister has also been a subscriber for awhile and I have eyed up some of the things she has received so that was another reason I thought this would be a great box to order.

Here is what I got in my first box:

  1. Botkier New York Bond Tote in black (Retail $128.00): I chose this bag to give as a gift and it works perfectly for the receiver. The only thing that would keep me from purchasing it at the retail price is that the inner lining is poor quality.
  2. P.J. Salvage Grey House Slippers (Retail $45.00): These slippers are super comfy! I love the inner lining.
  3. Original Pink Make Up Eraser (Retail $20.00): I had been looking into some sort of cleansing pads and this should work perfectly.
  4. Winky Luxe Uni-Brow Universal Eyebrow Pencil (Retail $16.00): I don’t usually use eyebrow pencils so this was my least favorite item. I will probably go ahead and give it to someone as a stocking stuffer.
  5. Terre Mere Aloe and Tea Tree Toner (Retail $54.00): I haven’t used this yet, I am waiting to use up my Ole Henrikson toner first. It does smell amazing though.
  6. Wei Two-in-One Purify and Glow Mask Collection (Retail $45.00): The packaging for this is so pretty and I wish they had made it so that I could reuse it again. I’m super excited to use this.
  7. Skin & Co Whipped Polishing Cleansing Cream with Truffle Extract (Retail $28.00): This is probably my favorite item. I have been falling in love with all of Skin & Co’s products lately.
  8. Grace & Stella Dr. Pedicure Exfoliating Foot Mask (Retail $20.00): Also excited to try this. I went back to the shop and purchased more so that I could have another one for myself and one for my sister.

The box also came with coupons/coupon codes.

One thing that is cool about FabFitFun is that if you missed something from a previous box or really enjoyed something you can also go to their shop and purchase items for yourself or for gifts for others at a discounted price. Their shop offers free shipping for all orders over $25.

They also offer exclusive deals for other websites and products.

Product Empties and Reviews

If you’re like me you have a supply of beauty products to use up. I seem to have collected face washes, moisturizers and other products in the recent past and I tend to use random ones – whatever is right there to use. However, I told myself that I would start to use things more consistently so that I can use items up so that lead to this post.

Some of these products I may have talked about in the past, however, I may have a different opinion on them now since I used the product up.

  1. La Roche-Posay Effaclar Purifying Foaming Gel – $5.99 and up: This face wash leaves my skin feeling soft and cleansed. Not over-cleansed or stripped like a lot of face washes do. Just the right amount of cleansing and skin balancing that I like. I had the trial size of it and can’t remember when I got it from but I would definitely purchase the full size.
  2. Olhenriksen Counter Balance Oil Control Hydrator – $36.00: This brand never disappoints. I have used several of items from their oil control line and have been pleasantly surprised. This line is said to control oil, mattify, reduce the look of pores, does not strip the skin and is noncomedogenic. This hydrator makes my skin feel soft and supple. It also keeps the greasies away for most of the day. I absolutely love the scent. It reminds me a spa so I feel like I am treating myself every time that I use it. I purchased this as part of their Balance it All Travel Kit which included their Balancing Force Oil Control Toner and Find Your Balance Oil Control Cleanser. I am really thinking about purchasing the full size set in the future.
  3. Garnier Clearly Brighter Argan Nut Gentle Exfoliating Cleanser – $7.99: Though this cleanser left my skin feeling clean, I did not think it was as gentle as it claims. The little beads (which I’m assuming are pieces of the argan nuts) are a bit rough on the skin. The actual gel part, however, got my skin cleansed and feeling good. As far as brightening, I do feel it helped to brighten my skin a bit. It wasn’t glowing but it did the job. I hate to throw products out and didn’t have anyone to pass this on to so I decided to use it up – which it felt like took forever, lol. I believe this was gifted to me by my sister and I would not purchase this again.
  4. Skin & Co Truffle Therapy Polishing Micro-Exfoiliating Truffle Face Gommage – $26.00: This was gifted to me by my sister and she used most of the product but there was enough in it for me to get several uses out of it. This was the 1oz tube so I’m assuming it is a trial/small size as it comes in 5oz tube as well. One thing I love about this is the smell – yummy and almondy. It has apricot kernels, truffle extract and almond oil in it. I like that it was exfoliating without being too rough on the skin. My skin soaked it right up and felt soft and supple even after the first use. It says to use 2-3 times a week so that is what I did (while using my other face cleanser on off days). I do think it softened up my skin and helped with some of the strange dry patches I’ve been having lately.

Product Review: Gerard Cosmetics Hydra Matte Liquid Lipstick

Gerard Cosmetics Hydra Matte Liquid Lipstick in 1995: This was the first color that I tried and it was the perfect nude (for me). It glided on smoothly and after it “dried” my lips felt soft to the touch. As far as wear it lasted for most of the day without cracking or smudging – even after I ate some food and sipped out of a straw. I can see why this is one of their top sellers – I think it would look great on many different skin tones.

Gerard Cosmetics Hydra Matte Liquid Lipstick in Wine Down: This color is a delicious wine colored liquid lipstick.

Gerard Cosmetics Hydra Matte Liquid Lipstick in Groupie: If you like to shake things up a bit you would love this color. It is maroon with just the right amount of sparkle in it.

I also purchased Gerard Cosmetics Buttercream Lip Scrub. The company states that it can remove matte lipstick as well – I didn’t try it as I didn’t want to use up some of the product doing that.

I would absolutely purchase more colors of their Hydra Matte Liquid Lipstick as I love the formula so much. What’s great about Gerard Cosmetics is that they are always having some sort of sale so check back with them to see when your favorites are on sale.

Singles Swag Subscription Box Review October 2020 with Discount Code

After reading reviews and watching YouTube unboxing videos, I finally caved in and started getting some subscription boxes. So far I have only signed up for 2 that I thought looked like I would enjoy the most. One of them is Singles Swag.

Even though the name implies that it is strictly for single people, there are a lot of items that really are just great for self care and self love. The first box that I got was full of wonderful surprises. I must note that I am not in anyway sponsored by them and all thoughts are my own. See below for a referral link to get $15 off your first box.

The box costs $24.99/mo for the petite box and $39.99/mo for their full size box. Get $15 off your first box by clicking here and based on my first box it is totally worth it. You can sign up for a monthly, 3 month or 6 month subscription (each giving you a better deal).

Here are the items I got in my first box (Retail value $118):

  1. Spongelle Body Wash Infused Buffer (Retail value $20): This sponge is a flower shaped, scented squishy delight. It has a rose scent which may be a bit much for those sensitive to smell. I haven’t used it yet so I don’t have anything further to say about it just yet.
  2. Dime Beauty Immunity Boos Roll-On Essential Oil (Retail value $24): This roll-on oil smells delicious. It smells like a relaxing spa in a jar. The scent (for me) is eucalyptus with a hint of citrus. I’m wearing it right now and feel relaxed.
  3. Oh Ki Beauty 3-Step Marine Algae Mask Set (Retail value $12): I am very excited to use this mask. I have been wanting to try new masks and this is a Korean beauty mask so I will of course report back later on how this worked for me. It says it will heal and protect the skin ending with a dewy and hydrated finish.
  4. Gen3 Mila Zodiac Charm Bracelet (Retail value $58): This is probably my favorite item in the box. It is gold (can’t tell if plated maybe) and has little star and moon charms on it. What I also love, aside from it’s cuteness is that it fits up to 9 inch wrist and is adjustable. My wrist itself is not that big but my hand span is wide so slide on bracelets like that are often difficult to put on. Smart design makes me happy and I can’t wait to wear it out.
  5. Oogie’s Snacks Movie Time Butter Gourmet Popcorn (Retail value $4): Who doesn’t love a nice snack? I thought it was nice for them to add a little something to nibble on in here. I tried it since we are out of popcorn and I liked it. It was yummy – salty, sweet and savory – without being overly salty. It almost has a cheesy flavor to it but that may be the type of butter that they use. My sister and I agree it could use a little bit more of the flavoring.

As you can see the items aren’t necessarily for singles only. There is a bit of beauty, a bit of fashion and a bit of snacks to keep you enjoying your days. As I mentioned above, the bracelet is probably my favorite item out of the entire box.

If you sign up for a box you are also able to purchase past items in their shop at 50% off the retail price which is super cool if you really like something and want to purchase either another one for yourself or for a gift since the holidays are right around the corner.

Since I haven’t used most of the items I will be sure to review them on other posts as I add them to my daily routine. Overall I am pleased with the products that I received this month.

Product Review: Haus of Gloi Part 2

I wrote about this brand before and was pleasantly surprised by the products. Not only were they extremely affordable (mine were gifted to me by my sister but they really are affordable) but they smelled amazing!

Since I loved my experience with them so much I decided to purchase more products from them when they debuted their new fall collection. Even though I wanted to purchase more, I restrained myself and purchased just a few items. Of course I had to share on here what I purchased and what I thought about it as well. One more thing – their shipping time was excellent. It was shipped within a few days.

Haus of Gloi products

I purchased the Red Roan Perfume Oil and Bubbling Scrub: From their website Red Roan is described as “Fresh strawberry flecked porridge with maple syrup and adulterated with a splash of white cognac.”

I absolutely love this scent. It smells exactly how it sounds – like strawberry oatmeal! It has a hint of what smells to me like a strawberry malt as well.

Honey Love Perfume Oil: This scent was actually not part of their fall collection. It was something I randomly found on the website while I was browsing and sounded like something I would like.

According to their website Honey Love is described as”Golden honey, sweet cream, pink carnation, and vanilla musk.”

I don’t normally like musky scents but since it said vanilla musk I thought I would probably enjoy it – and I do.

The honey love perfume oil has a creamy honey and floral scent. The floral and musk are not as prevalent as I was expecting though so I am enjoying this yummy scent.

The perfume oils lasted for most of the day and kept their key notes. I was thoroughly surprised as I wasn’t sure how it would hold up on the humid days that I wore them.

I will definitely be purchasing more perfume oils and bubbling scrubs from Haus of Gloi in the future. For the mean time, my sister is more than happy to let me try some of the scents that she purchased from their website recently. Lots of candy corn and pumpkin scents to fulfill our Fall/Autumn senses.

Upon checking their social media I found out that they came out with more new scents to choose from – nothing that caught my eye but just an FYI.
