How to Automate Social Media Posts Using Postcron

Save Time by Automating Social Media Posts
If you are like most people that use the internet you probably use social media in some shape or form. Whether you have a personal account, business account, or both you probably have at least a Facebook or Twitter page. You may also have a Google+, Linkedin or Pinterest page if that is your thing. If you are more than a casual social media user and want to save time, increase your traffic and/or following as well as engage your audience – this post is for you.

Social media management can be time consuming – especially for businesses or brands that need to keep their audience engaged. When products launch or relevant information must be shared social media is the perfect place to share. Unfortunately the time it takes to create social media posts and publish them can usually be spent doing other more important tasks such as brainstorming or creating new content. And often social media posts need to be posted at specific dates and times – nobody wants to have to run to their desk on Monday morning at 8:45 to make sure that a social media post is ready for posting at 9:00am. Scheduling posts ahead of time saves a lot of worry and time.

When it comes to social media management using an auto scheduler makes so much sense. With a social media scheduler you can schedule social media posts to go live at the date and time you would like them to. With a social media scheduler you can also schedule social media posts leading up to a product launch, contest or anything else and create a buzz surrounding it which can often lead to more purchases and audience engagement. Insert Postcron.

How to Automate Social Media Posts Using Postcron Hertaintedlips Pinterest Facebook Twitter hertaintedlips

Postcron helps you to schedule your posts for social media. Whether you are an individual or a business/brand, you can use Postcron to schedule social media posts on the following platforms:

+ Facebook
+ Twitter
+ Linkedin
+ Google+
+ Pinterest

How I use Postcron

I use Postcron mainly for Facebook and Twitter, however, I am going to start using it for the other platforms that are available as well. I am super excited that they recently added the option to schedule pins to Pinterest because that will save me a lot of time. If I log onto Pinterest I know I will be on there for awhile pinning my little heart out. Scheduling through Postcron while I am in work mode will allow me to get things done without getting distracted.

What I really like about Postcron is that not only can you pick a specific date and time you would like to schedule your social media posts as you create them – you also have the option to use predefined publishing times. By using predefined publishing times you can make sure that your social media posts always post on the days/times that you would like to post them. This saves a lot of time if you do not need something posted on a specific date and time but would like to share it on your social media profile. I usually like to schedule posts about 2-3 times a week depending on what is going on.

Setting up your account

When you go to the Postcron page you can login using either your Twitter, Facebook or Google+ Account. You can then connect all your other social media accounts to that particular profile. I have my personal Facebook (and the ones for my websites) connected as well as the different Twitter accounts that I manage. With the paid plans that they have available you can also have team members (amount of team members depents on the plan that you choose) but if you just want to try Postcron out you can use the free version and you still get a lot of great features.

Scheduling your first social media post

You can choose to schedule a social media post to one or more of the platforms that you have connected to your account. So say you are having a product launch and want to let people on Twitter and on Facebook know at the same time. You can choose those two accounts and create the social media post – these will post at the time that you schedule them. If you want to schedule the post on Twitter to go out at a certain time and the one to Facebook to go out at another time you can do that as well. It is super easy to create the posts and schedule them to fit your needs.

Google Chrome Extension

I recently installed the Google Chrome Extension and it is super cool and easy to use. You can pin the page that you are on at the moment without having to open another tab and logging into Postcron. It even automatically inserts the image for you if you want to share an image with it as well.

Bulk Uploader

Postcron can save you even more time when it comes to scheduling social media. By creating a spreadsheet with future social media posts you can have all your future social media posts uploaded at one time with Postcron‘s Bulk Uploader feature.

Watch this short video on how to create a spreadsheet with social media posts that can be published on Facebook, Twitter and Google+

Add a watermark/image

If you have a Pro account and above you can also add a watermark/logo to your images when you upload directly in Postcron.

Postcron offers a free plan as well as paid plans that range from $9.99 to $99.99 depending on what your needs are.

The lovely people at Postcron offered me a 6-month upgrade to their Pro account in exchange for this post. All opinions expressed here are my own.

Update: My Blogging Goals

Back in March 2015 I wrote a post about some of my blogging goals. A lot of things in my personal life have changed and some of the changes did result in me having to put my blogging goals to the side.

Now that I am working a part time job and going to school part time I have a little bit more of a set schedule, however, I still have more free time than I used to working at my old job. How I spend my time, however, is another thing.

Starting a new job after job hunting like a boss and going back to school; forced me to attempt to set a schedule for myself since I previously didn’t have much to worry about while I was not working. This slowed down my blogging significantly.

I decided since it has been a little over six months and I am trying to spend more time blogging and working on my blogging goals, I thought it would be a nice time to post an update about how I am doing with my blogging goals.

my blogging goals hertaintedlips

Goal 1: Post More Frequently
Even though I was still working on posts and editing drafts, I did not reach my goal of posting 2-5 times a week – I was lucky to have even posted 2 posts a month. I am working on scheduling (see Goal 2) in blogging time so that I can get to that goal and I have some blog series that I am working on as well to help me in that process. I look forward to sharing what I am working on in the near future.

Goal 2: Organize/schedule my blogging tasks
I have been more organized and been spending more time working on drafts than I have in the past so I seem to have found a system that works in favor of the behind-the-scenes. I am working on a post about how I do that.

Goal 3: Organize my blog
I have cleaned up my blog a bit but I am still working on a new layout and trying to clear out the “clutter” from it so it is a bit more easy on the eyes.

Goal 4: Networking/Increase readership
Since I didn’t have any new content to read I have mostly been sharing my older more popular posts. I have been getting some nice feedback and new readers that were referred mostly from Twitter. I think once I post more I will get more readers. Wish me luck!

I will continue to work on the above goals and will check back in 6 months with how I am doing.

Do you have any similar blog goals? What are your current blog goals? If you have posted about it, please let me know in the comments as I would love to read it.

Morning Routine: The First Thing I Do Every Single Day

NaBloPoMo Nov 2015

What is the first thing you do every single day (I mean, after you hit the snooze button)?
I actually hit the snooze button several times before I actually wake up. Now that I think about it, I don’t actually have a snooze button since I haven’t used my alarm clock in ages. It is sitting next to my bed unplugged. What I actually do is slide the alarm on my phone to the snooze option several times before getting out of bed.

Once I am awake the first thing I usually do is think about how grateful I am for a new day. That doesn’t usually take much effort but the first physical thing that I do is go to the kitchen and make myself a cup of water, coffee or hot tea depending on the day. I like to have something to sip on as I am getting ready, however, sometimes I wait until I am showered and dressed first so I can sit down and savor it – especially if it is a nice cup of coffee. While I am in the kitchen I usually fill up my 40oz HydroFlask to take with me to work (or to carry with me during the day) since I am already in there.

When did that step in your routine begin?
Being grateful every morning has happened for about 10 years off and on. I don’t always do it right upon waking up – sometimes I do it later in the day. As far as my morning beverage, I think within the last 5 years is when I really formed a habit of drinking something in the morning. For awhile I just had to drink coffee every morning to get my day going, now it is to get a little boost and to enjoy and savor it as well.

Lately I have been reading peoples morning routines and I am trying to create one that benefits me more and is not all over the place. The morning beverage will probably always be a part of my morning routine but I would like to add writing as part of it. I’m working on it and will have a post in the next couple of months about my normal morning routine.

What about you? What is the first thing that you do every single day? Let me know in the comments. Also, drop a link here if you have a post about your morning routine.

Flashback Friday’s: Episode 18

flashback fridays

Hey y’all! Thank you for stopping by! I missed you! As you can see I missed a couple of Flashback Friday’s. I’m hoping I can get back into the groove of things though.

I am so happy that it is a new month (and my birthday month at that.) 2015 has been really crazy for me and June was really THE WORST month that I have had in awhile. I got out of it alive so I am trying not to dwell on it too much but it was a really rough month for me. I’m not going to go into details at the moment, but maybe at a later time I will talk about it. Mainly I had a bunch of health issues that really took their toll on me. My advice? Take the best care of your body that you can and be happy for your well being.

This week the weather has been kicking my ass. I’m still recovering from my health issues and this heat is really slowing that down. It has been so hot and muggy so I have been feeling exhausted and miserable. I returned to work on Monday after a week off and my body was fighting everything that I had to do. When it was close to the end of my day of work I was so relieved I just wanted to sit in my car and sleep. *sigh*

Anywho, I’m looking forward to this weekend because lots of time with family & friends and next weekend is my birthday so I am looking forward to celebrating that. I hope that you had a great week and enjoy your weekend!

What do you have planned for the weekend? Let me know in the comments.
